Soccer in the Poconos

We are very excited to announce the return of the PMYSL SUMMER OUTDOOR SEASON!

 

PMYSL was created to provide the residents of Pocono Mt. School District a local opportunity to play/learn the beautiful game of soccer and have fun while doing it. 

*Players must live within Pocono Mt. School District in order to participate in the PMYSL*

 

Boys and Girls Current Grades PreK-6th Grade (Ages 5-12)

 

Boys Divisions (current grades):

Pee Wee Boys: Pre K-1st grade (4V4 no goalies)

Juniors Boys: 2nd-3rd grade (5v5 with goalies) 

Majors Boys: 4th-6th grade (6v6 with goalies) 

*NOTE: these divisions are not set in stone and may need to change depending on number of kids who sign up and what age/genders. There is always the possibility of combining divisions to make it Coed.

 

Girls Divisions (current grades):

Games will be played on Sundays afternoons/early evenings.

at Pocono Mt. East Soccer Fields (Swiftwater Campus)

Games will take roughly 1 hour  in total.

Kickoff times will be:  2pm, 3pm,  4pm, or 5pm.

Game Times will change weekly but field will stay consistent.

 

PMYSL will run Sundays from June 16th - Aug 11th

(no games on June 30th)

MAKE UP DAYS : SATURDAY August 3rd, SATURDAY August 10th, SUNDAY August 11th. 

 

Cost $80 for minimum of 6 game schedule + team shirt + participation medal

 

# of Games. 
6 games are guaranteed but the season can be up to 7 weeks long in total, depending on how many teams are in your division.  Every week may be a different kickoff time. Kickoffs are either 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, or 5pm. Please arrive a minimum of 20 mins before kickoff.

Fields.
We will be using the East High School Soccer Fields (located by lot B). Games will always be played on the same field as the week before. Each division will be assigned a specific field that they will be on all season long. 

Official Rosters and Schedules. 
Rosters and schedules will be sent out sometime near Memorial Day/beginning of June.

How are Teams Created? 
We will use the information provided through the registrations, including team mate requests, to create the teams. We try our best to make sure that teams are equally skilled, in hopes of making this a fun experience for all! 
Playing Time. 
The PMYSL is a recreational youth soccer league that has a substitution system in place, which promotes equal playing time for all. Every PMYSL team must follow. Players will be rotated after every substitution period.

Game Length. 
4v4 Games will consist of Four 6 minute periods. 5v5 and 6v6 Games will consist of Four 8 minute periods  with 1 minute rest in between the periods. At the mid way point of each quarter there will be substitutions. There will be no over-time for regular season games.

Game Shirt. 
Game shirts will be handed out at the first game on June 16th. For anyone who misses the first game, we will bring their game shirt to the 2nd and 3rd week as well.

What if there's a storm or cancellation? 
If there is inclement weather and the games need to be cancelled, an email will be sent out to everyone AROUND NOON of game days.

Are there any Practices? 
No there are no practices included. The league is focused on providing an opportunity for the kids to get out there, have some fun and see if playing soccer is something they enjoy!  For those looking to get more practice/instruction, we suggest looking into : Pocono Mt. Youth Soccer Academy (fall and spring)

Picture Day

Picture Day is July 7th. Rain date July 14th. No makeup days will be provided for those unable to attend. Picture Packages will be offered for families to purchase through Bender Photography.

 

Coaches/Referees. 
Teams will be coached by referees and by East High School Soccer Players. 
Referees will consist of PMYSL staff and parent coaches.

NOTE: This year any parent who wants to coach their child's team we will allow! (must fill out proper clearances before 1st game).  We will look to have 2 coaches / refs for every game to make sure each team is getting proper instruction.

Any parent who decides to coach will result in FREE REGISTRATION for their child.
- Player Registration Fee will be refunded after 4th game that parent refs/coaches.

WHEN REGISTERING:

Please make sure to use the name of the Player who will be playing in the league, not the name of the Parent who will be spectating.
